Jason grew up in the Horowhenua district, later attending Massey University where he completed his Bachelor of Business Studies (Accountancy). From there, Jason started employment in 1996 at Coopers & Lybrand Tauranga as a graduate in the business services and audit division.

After a transfer to the Wellington Office of Coopers & Lybrand (now known as Pricewaterhousecoopers or PWC) Jason obtained his Chartered Accountancy designation in 1999.  Shortly after completing this qualification, Jason was transferred to the office of PWC Guernsey in the Channel Islands, UK.

During this time Jason gained SME business services experience across a range of industries and services.  He also gained significant audit experience in a diverse range of industries including banking, finance, investment funds, the electricity industry, and manufacturing.  His roles within a top 4 accounting firm in New Zealand and the Channel Islands have provided him with the experience and the ability to analyse diverse business situations.  It also allows him to understand the culture of SME businesses and also large corporate businesses.

In 2002 Jason moved back to New Zealand and held a senior manager role with Kendons Chartered Accountants Ltd, allowing him to focus on the SME business services market.  This experience led to an opportunity to relocate to Tauranga in 2005 to work for L B Dawson & Associates Ltd, leading to a directorship role on 1st April 2006.  Jason has held this role ever since, and the firm has now become known as PKF Tauranga Ltd.

Jason lives in Tauranga with his wife Linda and two daughters Sinead and Libby.  He is an avid rugby and cricket follower, having played previously in both codes.
